Sheep Rock-John Day Fossil Beds: Eastern Oregon Landscape Photography

Photo taken of Sheep Rock, part of the Sheep Rock Unit which is the southernmost part of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in eastern Oregon. This photo was taken in June of 2012 on a cloudy day. The late spring is one of the best times of the year to take photos in eastern Oregon because the rains in the early spring followed by lots of sunshine in the late spring create all sorts of different colors in the different rock layers. Colors ranging from reds and dark brown layers as evident near the peak, to golden and sandy layers, like you see at the base. The photo is anchored by the clouds at the top, and the green grass and trees at the bottom. Frame this picture and hang it on the wall in your living room, office, hallway or bedroom.
