Christmas in the Grotto: Stairway to Heaven-Portland, Oregon

Photo taken at the Grotto in Portland, Oregon on Christmas eve, 2025. This picture shows the stairs that lead up to the Chapel of Mary and the upper gardens. The Grotto is both an outdoor Catholic altar and a serene woodland sanctuary located in Northeast Portland that features 62 acres of botanical gardens and chapels for introspection. There are a variety of colors in this photo from the purple lights on the tree reflecting off the retaining wall, to the blue, red, green, and yellow lights on each step of the stairs. The rainbow stairs that lead you up to a semi-arched entry way that is partially hidden by the slight right-hand corner. Down the stairs below there are glass doors revealing an entryway to a dark basement. So you can follow the rainbow stairs up to the warm-bright lights and the chapel, or you can go down the stairs to the dark-cold basement. It's your choice. Or, you can buy a print of this picture to hang on the wall in your living room, office, hallway or bedroom.
