Celilo Bridge-Columbia River Gorge: Oregon Landscape Photography

Photo taken of the Celilo Bridge in late September. The golden hills of the parched eastern Oregon desert paint a nice contrast with the gorgeous deep blue waters of the Columbia River and the light blue sky. The illusion of the bridge being raised up for the buoy in the foreground as the bridge continues over the shore before disappearing into the darkness of the shaded cliffs on the Oregon side of the river. This photo was taken from Celilo park which is about 2 miles upriver from the bridge. Celilo park is the former site of the great Celilo falls, the place of that historic painting of Lewis and Clark when they arrived there in 1805. In fact this very railroad bridge can be seen in the background of the early photos of the Indians dipnet fishing at the falls. The construction of the Dalles Dam in 1957 raised the level of the river and wiped the falls out completely. Perfect photo to hang on the wall in your living room, office, hallway or bedroom. Also perfect to make a postcard out of.
